Poverty, not racism, causes the achievement gap

By The Time They Start School, For Some Children It’s Already Too Late

Know for certain:  there are slums in Stockholm.

And Belfast.

And Vienna.

And the children who grow up there fare no better, relative their mainstream peers, than is the case in the United States.

We will never understand the causes of poverty among black folk until we understand them among white folk also.
