We’re in for two straight days of constant, sometimes heavy, rain.
The walk from the shelter to church this morning left me completely soaked. My “rain jacket” is ineffective; had I known what was coming, I would have taken my heavy coat out of my stash last night and worn that last night and this morning. The contents of my pants pockets, including smokes, lighter, debit card, were thoroughly soaked. The cardboard of the cigarette packs (I keep some empties to store stuff in.) was falling apart.
At the shelter, there’s no way to let your clothes dry. And if your socks get wet, they stink.
Went out at about 9:30 to pick up prescriptions; half mile walk. By the time I got there, I was soaked again; and on the way back, I got caught in a downpour.
Postscript, Monday, May 8, 2017:
I have my backpack, and I also carry with me constantly a big, open plastic bag from CVS in which I keep a lot of stuff.
One of the things I keep in there, inside another bag with other stuff, is a screw-top empty plastic bottle — originally was of Vitamin C tablets — in which I keep all my loose change.
Yesterday at Burger King when I got out the 6¢ I’d have to pay with my dollar for coffee — that — the change — was all wet. Inside a screw-top plastic vitamin pills bottle.
