Sandy Hook “truthers'” bizarre antics

Bookmarks: Bizarre

———— ♦ ————

I heard of James Tracy a few years ago, and supposed his skepticism was no big thing.  Turns out he’s done a lot:

Since [Sandy Hook], Tracy [has] claimed that almost every mass shooting or attack in the United States has been a hoax, including ones at the Boston Marathon, the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C., and the recent shooting in San Bernadino, Calif.

There is also the matter of the relentless harassment of bereaved families, that some of these individuals engage in.

As to his relationship with Florida Atlantic University, I see questions of academic freedom and of whether one’s activities in private life should affect one’s relations with one’s employer.  As I understand Maryland law, at least, in Maryland all employment is presumptively “at will:” a worker can be fired at any time with or without cause, for any reason or no reason; as happened in July with Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts.  It’s all a question of Florida law and any contracts between the university and its faculty.
